Kozhikode tales..

 Not many of us knew that Kozhikode   also known as Calicut , is an important and touristy  city in northern Kerala.During our trip to Varkala we just halt one day to explore this beautiful  city during our winter vacations.  

The road distance from Bangalore to kozhikode is approx .384 km The rouge we took  was Bangalore-Mysore-Sultan Batherry-Kalpetta- Calicut.

We left bangalore at 4 am and crossed kalpetta around 8 am in the morning .Unfortunately  after that ghat section  start popularly known as Lakkidi  view point ..where road Jam is common  and we got struck there for two hours ..our ETA was 9.30 but we  reached calicut at 12 noon . 

Anyway returning  back to our blog ,about Kozhikode, 

This anciant city was a well known trade port which is believe  to be  engaged in international trade with the Jews, Arabs, Phoenicians, and Chinese for more than 500 years. Because of this the cultures, food  the city resemble most of these countries. 

 it is also believe that Vasco da Gama, the first European traveler  arrive on the Malabar coastlines at Kappad . So from Historical point of view this city has so much to offer. 

 If  you are in the mood to take a break from the busy lifestyle and enjoy the serene calm ness  of nature, then Kozhikode is the place for you.

This beautiful beach attracts thousands of tourists and locals every day owing to the beautiful sunset views it has to offer. The old lighthouse, along with the two crumbling piers that run into the sea, adds to the beauty of the beach and retain its old-world charam..

After the sunset  we headed towards ‘Beypore  as heard there was international  water feast was going on . 
Beypore is a small port located near Kozhikode and was historically famous for trading with the Middle East. One of the oldest ports in Kerala, Beypore has been a strategically important site since the time Arabs, Chinese and Europeans invaded Kerala.

There are more tourist place at kozhikode the city offer  stunning waterfalls to religious places, pristine beaches and natural beauty. Since our stay was just for a day .we came back hotel with sweet memory of kozhikode  n started packing for next destination  which was Varkala.
