one day trip to Lepakshi (Andhra Pradesh)

Bangalore to lepakshi road distance - 140 km

Time taken - 2 -3 hours drive

Lepakshi temple also known as veerbhadra swamy temple dedicated to the fierce form of Lord Shiva . The temple was constructed in the 16th century in the Vijayanagara style.

The architect n structure of temple is magical. This temple is famous for its architectural grandeur and intricate stone carving.

So , on one lazy weekend we decided to go for a long drive n concluded trip to Lepakshi😅 we started our journey from home around 9 am in the morning . Stopped at Yelahanka for some good English breakfast..and found amazing cafe named "Cafe social" where we had scrumptious breakfast at very reasonable rate i must say . Since it was early about 10 am in the morning , the cafe was empty n we spend quite some good time here during our breakfast session.
After breakfast we headed towards our destination via  Bangalore -Hyderabad highway.

Around 12 we were at our destination. We headed toward the jatayu park as here in south, temples are closed during afternoon time .
We climbed Jatayu park first

Jatayu theme park, lepakshi
Mythology states that Lepakshi is the place where Jatayu fell.
Jatayu had tried to rescue Lord Rama’s wife, Sita, from being kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. In the fight that ensued, the demon king had chopped off one of Jatayu’s wings. It is believed that the bird had fallen on this rock and remained alive to narrate the incident to Lord Rama. Le-pakshi – meaning rise O’ bird – is what Lord Rama had told the dying bird, blessing him to attain moksha .

The best part about the Jatayu theme park is that it offers 360 degree view of the entire Lepakshi village. You can spot both the Nandi Bull and Veerbhadra Temple from the top. There is a nominal charge to enter this park
After Jatayu park , we went to Nandi bull statue which is just a walk away .

The gigantic Nandi statue, carved from a single block of stone, stands as a testament to the extraordinary craftsmanship of its creators. The intricate carvings on the bull are so precise that they appear to have been made with the aid of modern machinery, leaving architects puzzled about the methods used in its construction.
After  completing this we still have a time as it was just 3 pm and the main temple was ye to open , so we decided to have  lunch . There were  few  decent hotel available nearby.

After lunch we went to main Lepakshi temple for a darsan and believe me it was awestruck moment. The beauty of pillars..the iconic monolith satues of snake n ganpati can't be difine by the words .

Some of the unique characteristics  of this temple are-
1.  The hanging pillar,

2. Thee paintings on the ceiling which depicts  the story of Ramyana n Mahabharat.

3. The  in complete Kalyana Mandapa,  where lord Shiva and goddess Parvati supposed to be marry .and the exquisite carvings of deities and divinities.
after the temple darsan , and spending here about 1 and half hours . We headed back to Bangalore with endless memories n photos .
