Rangeelo Rajasthan - Day 1 Jaipur City

It was lazy weekend of January 2017 where topic of discussion was how to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary . Me and my husband wanted to celebrate it in a grand way , after 2 month of deep discussion we finally decided to explore Royal Rajasthan this time as it is one of the most happening tourist destination in India. Once we decided the place we immediately booked our flights to B'lore-jaipur on 10th of February & returning on 15th of February 2017. To avoid the unnecessary chaos we have booked our hotel too through MMT and Go Ibibo sites as February is the peak season for tourist as well as for weddings.

On 10th of Friday we landed to Jaipur Airport around 9:00 am in the morning. From Jaipur airport we booked a cab for a hotel. The driver was nice and fair enough to asked whether we wanted to see Jaipur city. Since we had already enquired about the taxi fare from tourism department we found its a good deal as he told us to charge only 1400/- rupees for a full day . we told him to give us 2 hours time to get fresh and for breakfast .

Day 1 Jaipur :-
Sharp 11 :00 am our cab came to our hotel. We directly headed towards city palace to start our journey.

City palace is a place where royal family of Jaipur still resides. It has 4 main gates where only 3 gates used by visitor to visit the palace. We found the ticket price little bit expensive ( 250/- per person) but since we came so far to see the architects we didn't minding paying the same . Inside their was a museum and art textile . City palace is located at the centre of the pink city and you will get lots of shopping joints nearby. Make sure it must be week day as all the shops close on sunday.

After City palace we thought of showing our kids Jantar Mantar ,which is located adajacent to City palace. Jantar Mantar is ancient astronomical observatory which relies on movement of sun and other heavenly bodies to predict time , calendar and lunar charts . Entry charge was again Rs 50/- per head. There was also facility of combo ticket of all heritage site of Jaipur which was approx. 1200/- per head . Mean time one of my college friend came to meet us and joined us in a trip. It features largest sundial hence no doubt its UNESCO world Heritage Site .

After Finishing Jantar Mantar it was almost 12.45 pm , before heading to Amber Fort we decided to had lunch . my Friend recommended to head towards Laxmi Misthan Bhandar popularly knowns as LMB. I was surprised to see the crowd at the hotel. However soon we got our place and we ordered exclusive Rajasthani cuisine. The food was good and tempting.

Post lunch we left for Amber Fort , which was one of the largest fort in Jaipur and favourite shooting place for movies .You can take a elephant ride to reach the top of the fort , however car has different route and can take you to the top from backside gate. The fort was constructed by Raja Maan singh. We took the service of guide to understand the history of fort well. The guide charges varies from Rs.150-200 /- Near entrance we found some local who was playing a melodious song. The Entry fee was Rs 100/- per person , children Rs 50/- above 5 years .

Local playing melodious song !

As our Guide told the whole area divided into - Ganesh pOl, jaleb Chowk, Sila devi Temple, Deewan - e khas , Sukh niwas and Sheesh Mahal.

Since it was Afternoon the temple was closed . According to our guide king used to take blessing before going to battle from this temple. The entrance was made up of silver . He showed us diwan -e khas where important meeting used to be held by kings. we headed towards Ganesh pol. The lord ganesh is symbol of auspicious start for every hindu . The movie Khoobsurat starrer Sonam Kapoor was shoot here . Above the Ganesha you can find a small window , where the royal ladies used to witnessed the troop Arrival.

The window from the top ! Now we walked further and saw a beautiful glass work room famously known as sheesh Mahal. Our Guide lit up torch and focused on ceiling, it was like thousand star glittering together ..wow !!

beautiful mirror work at Sheesh- Mahal !

Sukh Niwas : It was just opposite to Sheesh Mahal . As name suggested it is place of pleasure , queens and her friends used to swings in this courtyard during their free times . Door was made up of sandal wood to spread fragnance and there was an open channel of water to make the atmosphere cool ... technology at that time :)
after finishing all we headed towards exit where we found2wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww222222222ee3 a large kadahi. Guide told us this is the same kadahi where jodha made food in the movie Jodha Akbar . My kid was elated after watching such a big kadhai !

Since all forts closed by 5:00 pm and it was already 4 :00 pm we decided to go for Nahargarh Fort and skip Jai singh fort as both the fort were on the same hill. The road were not so broad hardly two vehicle pass simultaneously. Nhargarh fort is the place where lots of movie has been shot including Rang De basanti. This fort was believe to be haunted in past . Maharaja Sawai Jai singh made this fort but as the story tells the spirit of Prince Nahar destroyed everytime the fort was made to pacify the spirit the fort named after him . Unlike Amer fort , Nahargarh does not have large rooms. Nahargarh is the best place to watch for beautiful sunset .

The famous Bawri where Rang de Basanti movie was shot !
This fort was not much crowded like amer fort and gives a beautiful view of city from the top ,

By the time we finished Nahargarh Fort it was almost 6 pm.I had to meet my friend too same day at dinner, so we thought of covering Jal Mandir and Historic Monument "Hawa Mahal" on the way quickly.

Jal mandir can be spotted from top too while returning from Nahargarh .

Hawa mahal can be seen from road if anyone does not wish to go inside .

After clicking at this points we rushed towards my friend's house putting end to the trip of the day .

Important Notes:
- If you plan cleverly you can manage all attraction in combo tickets which is cost effective.
- The major 3 forts lies in same hill and minimum 1 hrs is required to visit the same.
- Cab facility is easy and almost every one accept payment through Paytm.
- Do not forget to take sunglasses , hat etc as the temperature still hot in morning during February.
- For street shopping you can buy local things near hawa mahal and jal mandir where seller do bargain & gives things is reasonable price.
