Pahalgam - Valley of Shepherds

The take away memories from  Kashmir 🥰

Pahalgaam  is the beautiful village situated almost 90 km from Srinagar and it will take you almost 3 hours to reach by road. Shooting location for many Bollywood movies, the city is located at the confluence of the two major  rivers Lidder and the Sheshnag .You need to hire a local cab since private vehicles are not allowed in most of these areas. The fare for a half-day cab is INR 2100 and INR 3000 for a full day and in Some places only pony will go .

Places  we  visited during our kashmir trip are -

Baisaran Valley, Aru valley, Chandanwari, and Betaab Valley

Aru Valley

Aru valley is one of the popular places for sightseeing near Pahalgam where tourists flock for some fantastic views of the dreamy mountain ranges.

Baisaran - also called swizerland of Kashmir . The beauty of Baisaran will be at peak during summer season. We rented out some local Kashmiri garments here and went overboard with the typical touristy poses.🥰 Renting out garments cost us INR 100 per person.

Pony ride to all this places we paid 1500  per pony (total 16km we had). Depending upon ur bargaining skill it can go little up and down too.

Baisaran valley

On the other side of Pahalgam is Betab valley and  Chandanwadi. (Went by cab)

The valley got its name from the famous Betaab movie. The entire movie was shot at the exquisite locations of Pahalgam. The Lidder river makes its way through the park with icy cold and crystal clear water .  The park is huge with a walkable stone trail that runs across.

Chandanwadi

Chandanwadi is a small and extremely important town to the northeast of Pahalgam. It is the starting point for the Amarnath yatra. It is also the last village on this route.

Best Time To Visit Kashmir

if you love winters and the snow, I will definitely suggest that you visit Kashmir once in the winters. Especially Gulmarg. But it comes with its own restrictions.

Autumn is also a fantastic time. It is when the saffron flowers bloom in the valley and with a little effort, you can find these rare views. The weather is a little chilly but the days are warm.
